Herding Cats?
Have you EVER tried to sit 3 cats in one spot, tell them not to move, then yell 'RUN'? Well, that is kind of like the way 4 year olds play soccer! Chloe had her very first soccer game today. What fun! [At least for those of us only watching.] The coach would put the 3 players on the line, tell them not to move then as soon as the other team kicked the ball, he yelled 'RUN'. Well, they were still on the 'not move' command. When they did run, it was to no place in particular. Sometimes it was actually toward the ball, but sometimes it was toward mom with the Gator-aid or to give Gram a hug or the dog with the pink dress and the pink bow in its hair. Just like in our days of watching the boys play T-Ball, there are teams that play to win and teams that play 'for fun'. There are the players and their parents that keep up with every goal they make and the players that smile when they run and just look cute going after the ball. In my 'wiser' stage I love the smiles. I think stopping in the middle of the game to wave at GaGa and hug Gram is cute. I think playing for fun is wonderful! Grant got his first taste as a Soccer dad today when he was asked to keep control on the bench. He came up to his dad after the game and said, 'God Bless you for doing that when we were little.' Gil is still smiling:)
And by the way... Chloe did kick the ball into the net!
